I’ve had to return two of these for the same reason. It may be a functionality issue I don’t understand, but if it is then it is not clear how to deal with it. The issue is that when my daughter puts in a CD+G disc the unit can take up to 2 minutes before it starts playing audio. The problem seems to get worse over time to where it eventually will not play at all. At this point I am not happy with this unit and would not recommend it to anyone. It is a shame because it has such nice features, but it seems the engineering team missed the mark in designing reliable core functionality of playing discs.

 Crappy Design… Disc Skips constantly, By

The first issue … the microphone that comes with it doesn’t work very well…. you have to almost swallow it for your voice to come through. We had a professional quality mic already so I didn’t worry to much about the crappy mic. The next issue … it worked good for about a month then all the CDs started skipping and whiting out the screen and the lyrics kept writing over themselves. Now it skips all the time and barely can play one bar without skipping. My daughter isn’t dancing around and when it started was sitting in front of the machine reading the lyrics as she sang them. I watched her today and she just stood there reading the lyrics and the machine kept skipping the CD. I changed CDs a number of times but it didn’t matter – it is definitely the machine and not the CD.

This sounded like it came with a whole bunch of songs. But, the CD was very disappointing. The songs included folk songs, and none of them were contemporary artists. My tweens are able to easily use it with their MP3 players and I-pods, they just don’t have any words to the lyrics this way though. You have to have special CD G’s to play on here. Downloading YouTube lyrics won’t work with the graphics. I thought that was a bummer. But, my twins have been asked to bring it with them to two sleepovers, so it is good, but not great. |
